Bulletin Board Policy
Purpose
The library provides space on its public bulletin board for announcements and notices of local community events. This service is in keeping with the Library’s overall philosophy of providing access to a wide range of information sources.
Policy
All notices and posters must be submitted in hard copy to Library staff, who will approve or deny posting based on available space and library policy as stated here. All efforts will be made to approve items within 48 hours of submission. Approved items will be dated and posted by library staff for a maximum of 30 days or until the event date has passed. Library items may be exempt from the stated time limits.
The Library gives priority to notices for programs and events that promote literacy, books and reading.
Allowable Items:
Community events (concerts, cultural events, workshops, etc.)
Educational information
Community resources
Information from elected officials
Small local businesses (as space permits)
Help wanted advertisements
Exclusions:
Corporate Sales
Personal Ads/Family Events
Content that could be considered discriminatory or harassing based on any protected status
Political campaign materials of a partisan nature
Religious proselytizing
Posting of a notice does not imply endorsement by the library staff or the Board of Trustees of the viewpoints expressed in the items.
The library does not assume any responsibility or liability for items submitted for display on the bulletin board. The organization/individual assumes responsibility for any damage incurred.
