Burn permits are issued by the appropriate Fire Departments for those areas falling within their boundaries of coverage. There is no charge for a burn permit. Terms and conditions do apply. Violations of the terms and conditions may result in a fine of $250 and assessment of all costs incurred by the Fire Department(s) extinguishing the fire upon which the violator is convicted. The fire district map found on the Official Miami County, Kansas website can help you identify which local department to contact to apply for a burn permit. Access the Burn Permit Brochure that explains the procedures for controlled burning and the permit process. |
